PROF. GÖRKEM ÇALGAN
Prof. Görkem Çalgan began his violin education with his father, Prof. Koral Çalgan, an orchestra conductor and viola instructor. He graduated with distinction in 1983 from Prof. Cengiz Özkök's class at Hacettepe University State Conservatory. In 1996, he completed his Master’s degree in the Viola Department of the Music Major at Hacettepe University Institute of Social Sciences. In 1998, he won first prize at the International Russian Composers “Chamber Music” Competition in Geneva, and in 2002, he was awarded a diploma and gold medal by Italy's FOYER DES ARTISTES Foundation for Culture and Arts.
In the 2006-2007 academic year, he completed the Proficiency in Art Program in the Viola Major within the String Instruments Department at Uludağ University Institute of Social Sciences. Appointed as an Assistant Professor in 2007, he received the title of Associate Professor in 2009. In 2015, he was appointed as a Professor, and he continues to serve as a faculty member in the Viola Division of the String Instruments Department at Bursa Uludağ University State Conservatory.
